"Cable" (tcable)

Like many of you probably did I read Tavarish's post about baja bugs and headed straight to ebay where I typed in "baja bug". None of the three or four results that came up suited me so I figured I would just search baja as I figured there had to be some interesting "baja'd" cars out there. As I pressed the search button for baja I thought to myself, "shit I'm just going to get a bunch of results for Subaru Bajas"....and I did. But I also found this Saab. Now being a person who wasn't around in the 70's I had no idea this existed honestly but I think I may be falling in love with it.
What are you guys' opinions on it? I go NP

Sonett IIIs aren't commanding large price tags yet, especially compared to their predecessors. However that picture you got there shows a rather nice one. NP? I dunno, where's the price, Margaret?
Edit: That's CP territory there.

Crack pipe. Sonett II sure, but not a III. They're 5-6k; hell this one is $ 2250

Reserve not met with 2 days to go but yeah after looking some more I would agree this might be on the hide side even though it appears to be one of the nicer ones. I would bet prices start to go up like on the 240z's

They peaked a few years back, and 10-11k was a good price point for a solid III. Something happened and the rates plummeted incredibly fast. Nowadays they just aren't fetching the cash one would expect
In a few years? Who knows, maybe, once all the IIs are off the market lol

Interesting, thanks for the info. I actually like the look of the III quite a bit more than the II. Something about the back of the II just isn't right.

Those things are loads of fun, and the V4 sounds really angry. Not too hard to work on, either.

It's probably a spot-on price for that particular car. I'd rather have it a tad cheaper, but I'd expect its value to go up, so you're not really going wrong at 9500. They're not performers, but it's a way cool car and you never see them on the road.

They seem fairly rare as well? Only three on ebay...I haven't checked Hemmings or autotrader classics though

I believe the 42k original miles looking at it. probably asking about 3k too much for what it is.

Damn it don't tempt me any further! I was trying to decide if there's room to drop a big engine in there but I don't think I could do that to this car

Really that much over? I've been searching a little and it's hard to find any of them out there, at least there aren't any on Hemmings or autotrader classics

in my home time there was an old guy that drove a yellow one every summer. The first time I say it I had exactly No clue what it was. I was shocked to find that it was a Saab when I finally got to get a closer look.

Question for you though lol can someone who is 6'4" fit inside? haha
Chase

I'm 6'2", I fit, though i also don't have a headliner. I've heard of people modifying the seats to make it work though. Basically, if you remove the slider (make the seat fixed) you can gain an inch or so of headroom height. You can also trim down or remove the padding in the seat, they're actually pretty damn comfortable even unpadded (good seat shape, fiberglass bucket). It does depend on leg vs torso as well, the pedal box isn't very big.

Notes on ad
-1972, wouldn't have had the big metal bumper anyway (73 & 74, 5mph bumpers, US crash regulations)
-No clue about the sheepskin seats, but i wouldn't be surprised if that was an option
-Has the optional driving lights, apparently the same type as from a Jaguar of the era (XJ6 maybe?). Should be noted, the Sonett has Lucas Electrics lights, so its honorary British :P
-Overall, it looks really damn clean, and thats definitely a good price for what it seems to be
Future reference, the two biggest potential rust issues on a Sonett are the rockers (which are very structural) and under the battery in the trunk (old style batteries leaking onto untreated metal)

Thanks for the info! I'm mostly legs so I'm usually not too worried about fitting in cars as most seats go far enough back for me, a small footwell isn't ideal but I could probably make it work lol
Not sure if you've seen this or not yet but a pretty good blog on a restoration;
